You have searched for the perfect wedding day hairstyle, and yet choosing just one seems impossible – I know how difficult it can be! I have worked with hundreds of brides, and there are so many beautiful styles, how will you ever land on ‘the one’?
Pinterest can be as hurtful as it can be helpful – the options are limitless! I get lost on there looking at house design or the yummiest recipes. There are a few considerations I like to think over with my brides. Sometimes, a hairstyle is just like choosing a dress. You do not know what will feel good until you wear it.
Personally, I love pairing together multiple elements of different styles to customize the perfect looks for each bride.
Here are a few considerations to keep in mind!
- Your dress style and overall feel of your wedding
Stay true to the vibe you are going for on your wedding day (classic, boho, romantic etc…). I love when a bride’s hairstyle, makeup, dress, florals, and venue all compliment each other.
2. Hair texture and color
Lighter hair is always going to show more detail. If you have darker hair, think about adding more texture into your style, or a braid to make the style really pop. Also, if you know you will need some extra volume and length – will you be willing to invest in extensions? If not, there are a lot of ways to achieve extra volume in an updo without extensions.
3. Time of year you will be getting married
I think early Spring/late fall weddings are the perfect time to do down hairstyles. Especially in VA (this humidity!! Ugh!..). However, you can make any style you want work anytime of year (GIRL, do not settle), but you may just feel less comfortable or need to do some extra things to maintain your curls all night.
4. Indoor/Outdoor location
If you will be inside all day/night, you do not have to worry about the elements as much. Outdoor weddings are the perfect time to take advantage of a beautiful updo!
- What feels right to you!
I will circle back around to this thought, do what feels right to you! Not what feels right to your momma, your BFF, or your husband. You will be wearing the style all night long. Sure, take into consideration what your husband likes…and if it is not the same as you find a compromise. This is your wedding day hair…you deserve to feel YOUR best!
Stay Radiant, friends!
